The Parti Quebecois’s Charter of Values has stirred up an immense amount of controversy in Quebec and Canada at large. Protests against the charter take place frequently, with masses of people from all racial and religious backgrounds. However, this week it seems the rain may have deterred some Montrealers from attending this Sunday’s protest. A group of roughly 120 people gathered around place du Canada in the cold-a much smaller turnout than seen at previous marches. While their determination, zeal, courage and array of brightly colored umbrellas is something to be admired, one has to question: what will stop you from fighting for your basic human rights?
